Corralitos Market Update

Wow.

I'd weigh an extra 90 pounds if this was anywhere close.

Stopped with other members of a classic car group to pickup lunch and, knowing the reputation, brought a cooler to take some things home to Napa.

Bought both the regular "kobisca" (Polish sausage) and smoked Polish, smoked 'German' (basically a braut), smoked lamb sausage, linguisca, a slice of their ham, and a package of their breakfast link sausages, plus a pound of bacon.

All have been outstanding. The bacon as thick and meaty as I've seen in years, not salty though a little heavy on the smoke (Neuseke's is a little milder) but flat out delicious. Ham mild and sweet, all the sausages well balanced and not salty. The breakfast links are the best in recent memory.

Amazing, the sausages aren't fatty (almost nothing drips out when poked to allow for draining when cooking) and these have real casings, excellent "snap."

We were exclusively on back roads but I'd guess you could make this an easy side trip off Highway One from Aptos, Watsonville or therabouts.

Absolutely worth the detour.

No website, but they do take orders and ship.

    1. Kobasica is not Polish. It's Croatian. Kobasica is similar to polish sausage, but not as fatty and don't tell a true Hrvatski (Croat) that it's the same.
