Pollo Fuego in Jessup?

Has anyone been to Pollo Fuego in Jessup (behind MOM's) ? I don't know how long it's
been open, but wondering if any of you have tried it and if it's worth a stop?

    1. It's absolutely worth a stop. When I've been there (lunch usually) the chicken and yuca have both been fantastic. This place has quickly become my favorite for Peruvian chicken. This chicken has fantastic flavor and is usually very juicy, and their yuca is usually crispy and cooked through.

        1. I also think its pretty good. Good marinated chicken, yuca/plantains are great, and the beans/rice was good too (although you have to order it separate).

            1. While I've been a huge fan of Pollo Fuego, I just wanted to post a comment that they really seem to be struggling with order accuracy. The last two times there I specified dark meat for my carry out order, and both times ended up with white meat. Not a huge deal, I guess, but annoying. The chicken, yuca, and coleslaw quality is still sky high, however.

Stopped there today. First time - overall very worth while place. The woman taking the order was not understanding that I was specifying white meat - she kept thinking I was saying I wanted a rice dish.

The chicken itself was great - some of the best I've ever had. There was a slight heat to it that I liked.

LOTS of yucca in an order - for the first time ever: too much. Their sauces were very good, too.

The only misses for me was that the coleslaw (my second side) was about 80% mayo - literally mayo with some cabbage added to it. The other miss was that the order taking seemed slow. Food came out fast once the order was placed, but the line moved SLOWLY.

                  Next up is Lily's Mexican.

                  • This area is going to overwhelm me with the eat choices. I'm now two pit beef stands and a pollo place behind. May have to start increasing my time on that project!

And there are also some pretty good empanadas at the El Patio market right across the street. And next door to that is the newish Salvadorean place Las Vegas II, but I haven't been there yet. Oh, and up route 1 from there is El Nayar, which also has some pretty decent Mexican, although not as good as R&R in my opinion. Of course, if you want to do the "Columbia area taco trail", which I just invented, I guess you would go from El Nayar to the Torta Truck, to R&R, then over to Lily's Mexican market (which makes their own tortillas) off of Dobbin Rd. Would make for some fun eating.

You're killing me. And I might have to take you up on the trail offer. Thanks for the info.

Don't forget the BBQ on weekends outside Mel's Liquors on Rte 175 east of the prison.

I think this is the A&W stand - the same one HowChowBlog is referencing below.

Two pit beef places near there? I know there is one on Rte 175 east of hte prison -- maybe just across the line into Anne Arundel county. I saw a truck sitting in front of a vegetable stand, and I need to go back. Is there a second?

                                    • I've been there twice and enjoyed it immensely. Was even thinking about taking a whole chicken home one night for dinner- it's that good. Just the right amount of seasoning. They do have an issue with order accuracy and speed, which might be a language barrier issue.
