Breed St. Replacement

slowrider Nov 23, 2009 10:31 AM

On Olympic Blvd. about 4 blocks west of Alameda where all the party/pinata stores are.
Went last wknd. and there are at least 15-20 different outlaw cart set-ups mixed in along the 2 or 3 blocks of party/pintata places. Everything from tortas to squash blossom quesadillas to huaraches to tamales and more. I assume that it only happens on the wknds. for the party/pinata store customers. I was there about noon and it was in full swing. Definitely worth a visit.

This is down in the produce district. It's been going on for many years now, although the food isn't on the level of some of the Breed St. vendors, but it is still worth checking out. It is weekends only.

Did you get to try any of the stands?

No, I had just came from Metro Balderas in Highland Park and was stuffed.
I'm definitely gonna take another trip down there and try it one of these wknds.

Well, couldn't fault you there. I'd love to hear about these places. I sometimes shop down there but in the recent year my weekends have been pretty full. What I remember was a few good places, but pretty standard items. But, I definitely didn't go to many of the places, so do share your notes. Maybe there's something new.
