(Dallas) Restaurant Recs for a NY Transplant In Town for Tgiving?
Hi all, I grew up in Dallas--now live in NYC--but return yearly for Thanksgiving. It's hard to keep up with the latest and best but I like to impress my husband with the Dallas culinary scene for the few nights we are in town.
What are the buzziest new places of the last year or two? Food quality is of high importance, don't want something that's just sceney. Atmosphere/area of town is also of importance (though secondary), interested in a place that's unique to Dallas and not just some flashy Vegas-esque dining experience. Would love to hear about anything great in Bishop Arts or other neat areas. As for cuisine am open to suggestions, but regional/loca/seasonal is better (don't need pizza/italian/sushi/asian fusion/things you can get excellent in NYC).
Thanks so much for any ideas!
I love all the restaurants in Oak Cliff. Arguably now, the restaurant "hot spot" area in Dallas.
My favorites:
"Smoke" in the Hotel Belmont.
Mexican on Jefferson Avenue. Notably: "Restaurant Gonzalez".
Hattie's on Bishop Avenue.
And of course probably the hottest of the hot, "Bolsa"!
All have websites. Have a great time while here.

One of the last posts on that topic mentions other very good restaurants in and around the Oak Cliff area.
