You gotta be kidding. We JUST rediscovered the place a few weeks ago, I posted a good review of them here. 2 entrees, an app, and 3 pints for $33 after tax? Plus the food was great.. Damn, that's a shame. Was going to go on Saturday but didn't make it. Now I really wish we had.

I just discovered it, too! Damn shame!

There is a comment on the bottom of the nbcconnecticut.com linnk that says someone is buying the Hops location and turning it into a locally owned brew pub. It says the same management, staff and setup and will be opened in December. Should be interesting. Jay

Awesome. Hopefully the food stays as good and cheap as it was, although that might be why they shut down..

Someone mentiond on BeerAdvocate that the new owner's name was Carson. Then someone speculated that maybe it was Carlson as in Carlson Craft Brewery that recently started up and shut down in CT. If so, that would mean a remarkable improvement in the beer.

Couldn't be that much better. Hops made a great light beer.

LStaff is right, this time. When the brewer at all 3 locations in CT was Todd...Sullivan? the beers were good to excellent. But ownership forced changes made him leave due to the "watering down", so to speak, of his beers. I never went back to any of them with the new guy but I didn't hear any rave reviews so...
Hopefully it can exit the corporate mandated rules and start anew with better beer.

While driving by on the pike yesterday, we noticed a big sign out front reads:
CARSON'S COMING SOON!
But notice Car*L*son is a different person. Hmmmmm. Any new info? Here is Andrew Carlson.

I remember distinctly the sign read "Carson" (like Johnny Carson, that's what I told myself to remember and report back). The plot thickens, eh? :) Can't wait to see what this new place is all about.

Noticed a mention of Carson's in another forum (non-food, even!). See here. Should be opening very soon if what we're all hearing is right!
