Salade des Fruits is cozy and intimate and has great food. We had an amazing meal there recently. www.saladedefruits.com

Nuba's restaurant location on West Hastings is a great place because the food is tasty, fairly priced and has a great selection for different palates. They even have live music there some nights! http://tinyurl.com/yfqsvz5

Good rec on Pear Tree - It's been a long time for me, but it is intimate and the food and service are topnotch.

OP didn't ask for quiet -- I would call Chambar intimate but that's a matter of opinion.

If you're willing to go to Burnaby, I suggest Vita Bella. Great food, reasonably priced.
