This just came to my mind..Basil T's in Red Bank. $ 20.00 for a beer and burger. I have had their burgers before and liked them. I know you want Northern Monmouth, but like I said..this just popped in my head.
Enjoy!

Basil's burgers are excellent. i always get one with blue cheese on it...perfect with a couple mugs of their rocket red ale!

Papa, this is the place your looking for. Northern Monmouth, great burgers, beer and cocktails. Plus you won't break the bank. Barnacle Bill's in Rumson is the place.

McDonaugh's Pub in Keyport does a good burger as well as a lot of other good pub grub . Their fish and chips is great and they have a pretty good choice of beers both tap and bottled .

I'll second McDonagh's for a beer and a burger. Very good beer selection, in both bottle & draft.

Agreed! Excellent place to go. Everything I've eaten there has been great. Ahhhh, now I'm craving a burger and a beer.

MGZ - Please elaborate. What is OP? Original post? And is there a name for the converted church?

That place makes a very good burger but at more than double other places, a poor value.
A bacon cheeseburger and beer is well over $20.00. Expensive lunch.

Dude asked for best, not cheapest . . .

While we're on the topic though - for my money I like Jack's in long branch. 6 bucks for an awesome burger and fries.
I haven't had it but for 20$ I'll get me a steak.

Another vote for Barnacle Bill's. Luckily for me, they were only open on Friday's for lunch as my office was right down the street. Otherwise I probably would have been there 3 days a week!
I forget the name of the place that replaced Table, but they too have a decent Kobe burger on their lunch menu. -mJ

mJ - The restaurant that replaced Table is Zoe American Bistro.

Yuppers bgut, that was the place. Frequented there for lunch quite a few times with co-workers, as well as the late great Arthur. Always had great service, and really liked their burger for what it was. Damn, all these great places over there that I am missing now that I am not working in that area! -mJ

Is Zoe BYO?

No, they have a little bar there, but not sure if it is just wine or if they serve beer and alcohol as well. I've only been there for lunch, so never really looked into it. They did however have a bunch of empty wooden case boxes from some of my favorites: Insignia, Scarecrow, etc. Haven't seen their wine list though. -mJ

Called Zoe. They are BYO. I figured as much. I think the only liquor licence in Little Silver is the liquor store just around the corner.

Oh wow...maybe all the bottles they have there are empties, or they are just for show. Good to know. Always went for lunch, not that I wasn't in the drinking mood, but it was never appropriate with the co-workers! ;-) Only kidding. No drinking at lunch for me... -mJ

Papa, Although not northern Monmouth but if your looking for quality as well as value try the Mill in Spring Lake Heights during happy hour, which is 4-7 PM every day.
- All apps, half price including a delicious Kobe burger for $6 (yes that's right $6)
- Wash this down with any martini (including top shelf) for $5.
For $11 you cant go wrong with their deal.

I went to Maloney's in Matawan last week. I didn't have the burger, but my wife did and was pleased with the result. The real draw is the beer selection with 16 on tap and over 150 in bottle from around the world.

Here is the website for Maloney's Pub - it's actually 24 on tap

Last couple of times I was in Barnacles Bill's the burgers were not up to the standard they always were.
My favorite burger and beer place is the Pour House, Shrewsbury Avenue,Tinton Falls. Consistently a great burger cooked behind the bar....small but good selection of draft brews.
The Falls (formerly The Grist Mill) in Tinton Falls has a nice 12oz burger as well at the bar on the top floor overlooking the falls.
