Xmas in Paris
We might be in Paris between 24 Dec and 28 Dec. Will most restaurants close during this period? I'd imagine most hotel restaurants would open during this time.

Many restaurants are closed indeed, especially the small bistrots. But many are open. Your best guide is www.viamichelin.com

Agree as usual with Soup but I've also taken others' work (from here and my archives) and posted a Summary at http://johntalbottsparis.typepad.com/...

That's an amazing list, John. I could live quite well within those confines. For some reason, I was thinking of something similar to the August closures. Hmmm. Christmas in Paris.....

I love Christmas-New Year's; compared to say London, which is dead, the energy, trees, oysters and lights are a kick.

.....and I would add far less commercial. The magic of Paris for me is that it is really a collection of villages, people often live and shop in the same area, so you see families being "christmassy". It is very cute!
My partner also loves Christmas because it is dark outside and the shops are lit up, in the summer you often can't see inside, at Christmas you can see so much more, and it makes them so much more enticing.
