Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

Brunch type food in the evening?

Hi folks, I'm looking for a place that serves tasty, wholesome tastes like mom cooked brunch style food on a Sunday evening. By Brunch style food I'm specifically referring to pancakes, french toast eggs, bacon etc.

We love a NYC brunch but as we don't touch down at JFK until 2pm we won't make a traditional brunch this visit.

We like diners and low key restaurants - nowhere fancy where you get sneered at for wearing sneakers!

Any ideas?

Thanks

    1. Sarge's serves breakfast/brunch foods 24/7.

        1. Midnite Express, Second Ave at 89th St. They're open 24 hours, and serve breakfast items whenever. I was there a few days ago for a late brunch (2-3 PM) and had a good, hearty serving of pancakes, eggs and sausage. Very tasty and filling.

              Two more things:

              1) My Dad had breakfast food there around 10 PM.

              2) They deliver. I don't know what their delivery range is.

As for non-brunch food, their chicken parmigiana is pretty good, as are their cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

              • Permanent Brunch in the East Village. Haven't been, but brunch at dinner is their thing.
