I saw a sign on the old Houlihans "Angelico's on the Boulevard" coming soon. Hopefully it isn't the same owners as Angelico's Lakehouse in E Hampton, as I am not a fan. Also, I noticed work being done on the old Tribeca as I drove by, it has a sign up but I only caught the first two letters ("Pa..."). Anyone have any info on either place?

The fire damage was extensive enough for the authorities to condemn that portion of the building. That allows for an insurance recovery under a "total loss" scenario. Best case option for an owner or tenant who wants to rebuild as they can get lossed business income for the time that they are dispossesed. Whether they will actually reoccupy the refurbished building is unknown, however.

Yeap, it is the same Angelico's as the Lakehouse. I have been to the Lakehouse a couple of times and did not think it was that bad. I am hoping that the Glastonbury location will be more middle-of-the-road food since we do not have a lot of that in town.

As for Tribecca, I have been by there a couple of times and did not notice a sign unless it went up over the weekend or very late last week. Either way I heard it is Italian. They were stocking the place last week so I would guess they will be opening soon. I peaked in the window and thought the interior looked the same with a few changes. I have to go by there today and will post if I see anything new. Jay

The managing partner at the New Britain store invited us to the East Hampton location. They're related.

The East Hampton store tries too hard with the food and the service is astoundingly bad. We went once, and had a reservation that was made by the manager of the New Britain restaurant. Despite the fact that we were greeted as if we were "VIPs" everything went downhill from there.

The New Britain location is a red-sauce Italian restaurant with good food, nice specials (we had prime rib for $9.99 recently) and very good service. The problem with the New Britain restaurant is that it's very dark -- to the point of being depressing. It's such a huge place they shut the lights off in the unused areas/rooms. But they should close the doors to the darkened rooms.

On the good side, we thoroughly enjoy their spaghetti sauce, steak (they do a great job with their steaks) and a number of clams specials.

Bottom line: I'll try the Angelico's in Glastonbury once.

I do not think that Piatti's on the west coast is the same. I did have lunch there last week and it was okay. We had chicken parm sandwiches. The chicken had little taste and the sauce was not great, not bad, but just not great. I will say the roll they served it on was excellent (very fresh) and they gave you a small side salad with your sandwich which was excellent for the price ($8). Also the service was very SLOW. It took over an hour to get meals and there were not many people in the place. The atmosphere was nice too.

I also had lunch the other day Zoup. It was very good but I thought it was a bit pricey for the soup. Sandwiches looked decent and the salads looked great. It is counter service and the place was pretty crowded. It is part of a midwestern chain. I hope it works out for them.

Also I noticed a lot of cars in the parking lot at Angelicos on the Boulevard. They must of had a party or a "soft" opening since their banner out front says they will open on January 4th. Jay
