Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in the New England

Springfield, Mass?

Coming from California for a few days for Thanksgiving. Any ideas for great breakfast and lunch in or near Springfield?

    1. We live over the border in Ct. and one of the best places for breakfast in the area is 3hree Cafe on Belmont Ave. in the Forest Park section of Spfld. Only open for breakfast and lunch (wed-sun). Website is http://www.auntiecathies.com/3hreecafe/ to give you an idea of the menu. They also usually have another 3 or 4 "specials". We have gone for breakfast many times and have always had quality food. Have not been for lunch though. During the summer months, they have outdoor seating. Probably should call to verify that they are open over the Thanksgiving holiday.

        1. Good donuts at Donut Dip in West Springfield.

I believe White Hut (also in West Springfield) also serves breakfast and definitely lunch. It's not really a sit-down place, but sitting at the counter and watching the cooks is great and the food is classic. http://www.whitehut.com/

            1. Pho Saigon, 398 Dickinson St in Springfield is excellent for lunch.

                1. re: CTeater

Skip Pho Saigon and head across the stree to Vinh Chau. Much better.

                  • Chef Wayne's Big Mamou on Liberty St., a Cajun restaurant. Great food, The Student Prince for German food. There is a breakfast place, can't remember the name, on Rt. 140 heading west in W. Springfield, past the Big E. it looks like a house.
