Wine for Indian Food
I am taking a friend to dinner at a Indian/Himalayan restaurant and have no idea what wine would be good. I imagine we will have a combination of lamb and chicken dishes. Mostly on the mild side (I'm the only one in the group that likes spicy.)
I know thats a pretty broad description, but its the best I can do. Oh, the meals there are about $15, wine should be priced accordingly. Thanks so much.

I eat a lot of Indian food...Gewurztraminer works well with Indian foods-it's a white. I find that Grenache and some Syrahs work well as I prefer red but most would steer you towards a sweeter white for Indian foods. I also like Pinot Noir with mild chicken dishes so this may work for you as well.

If you like bubbles, order an inexpensive bottle of sparkling, usually Indian restaurants will offer something that will match perfectly. If you have a choice of a brut, extra dry or Asti, extra dry or Asti will be sweeter and it is so much fun with Indian spices.
If bubbles aren't your thing, a Riesling or Vouvray/Chenin Blanc or Gewurz (selena03) are text book matches.

thank you for your help.
i bought a bottle of Gewurztraminer and a bottle of Pino Noir. I enjoyed the Pinot, and most everyone else drank the Gewurztraminer, which is not a wine that I am much fond of.
