TN: 2007 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes
We tasted this blind along with 11 other 2007 Southern Rhones and it was, IMHO, the star of the night.
While definitely much too young to be drinking, this wine was wonderfully focused with an amazing purity and balance. Dark sweet fruits, cassis, plum and raspberry. Perfectly integrated tannins. Extrememly well structured with a long, long finish. Definitely a wine to revisit in about 10 years.
My findings exactly. I went to a non-blind 07 CdP tasting and picked Janasse the winner in a lineup of the usual suspects.
