$120/lb ham @ costco!

Was at the Marina del Rey/Culver City costco today...they had presliced spanish ham for $32/4 ounces...i was tempted to try it, but figured it was probably better freshly sliced from say Cheese Store of Beverly Hills...or maybe I'll make a trek to Bazaar.

Anyone try this stuff? How much better is it than proscuitto?

    1. In general, the high end Jambons have a more interesting, complex flavor than prosciutto. At that price, I am assuming that you were looking at Iberian black pig raised on an (at least partial) acorn diet. Why it would be at Costco, I have no clue (I rarely go to thier stores). The fact that you declined pre-packaged slices was probably wise as the delciate flavors would have certainly declined. If you can find it still on the hoof, however, have a slice and judge for yourself!

In addition to the jambon, my Costco also has osetera cavier. You may want to explore a Costco, some great values. In the past, I also purchased whole thread spanish saffron.

They have Alba white truffles at 200/ounce

            2. La Tienda has a number of options online at price points above and below what Costco charges, just to show that they're not pulling numbers out of their butt:

And while you're at their website you might want to pick up a couple of cans of Galician clams at $79 for 5 ounces.
