I'm not a big fan of Briermere myself, and I live 5 minutes away! Way too overpriced for what you get.

I'm not a huge Briermere fan either. They're pretty good for "store bought", but certainly not home-made tasting. Too much gel to fruit ratio, crust is not tough per se, but not flaky and layered, either.

I haven't been there in years, but Briermere Farms in Riverhead has long been known for great pies and apparently still gets rave reviews.
