Are there any places that sell great homemade pies near Medford/Patchogue?

Are you willing to drive? Try the excellent Jericho Cider Mill on Rte 106 just north of the Northern State Pkwy.

This farm in Islip has pies that are relatively "homemade" (like most) but not sure if they're still open?

I'm not a big fan of Briermere myself, and I live 5 minutes away! Way too overpriced for what you get.

I'm not a huge Briermere fan either. They're pretty good for "store bought", but certainly not home-made tasting. Too much gel to fruit ratio, crust is not tough per se, but not flaky and layered, either.

          They're open until Thanksgiving.

I haven't been there in years, but Briermere Farms in Riverhead has long been known for great pies and apparently still gets rave reviews.
