Casual Sat. dinner for 8 before DAR Constitution Hall concert

Any suggestions for a casual, reasonably priced place for 8 people to grab a bit before a concert at DAR Constitution Hall? We are looking for simply prepared food, veggie options, American cuisine (not ethnic). Sandwiches, salads, bagels, simply prepared fish, etc. would be fine. Thanks!

Tonic is nearby, as is Old Ebbitt Grill. You should be able to find something to please everyone at both locations.

Definitely get reservations at OEG for a Saturday night, especially for 8. There are a lot of options there, so it should please everyone.

If it's for THIS Saturday, I think you will not be able to get a reservation for a party of 8 at either OEG or Tonic. They get sizable pre-theater crowds, and I have had difficulty booking 2-tops anytime there's a Sat show at DAR.

I agree, Daniel. Reservations for 8 people are going to be hard to come by. We were actually focusing on Founding Farmers, but couldn't get a reservation this close to the weekend. Thanks for the suggestions.

Now, that said, if you want REALLY casual, on the GW campus there's a hole-in-the-wall pub&carryout on the corner of 21st & Eye called "Lindy's Red Lion". Burgers, sandwiches, etc. A total student hangout, and one I remember fondly from my GW years.

Also, slightly less hole-in-the wall is The Exchange, on the north side of G between 17th & 18th.

Lindy's is definitely worth trying to squeeze into, if you can, for their ridiculous burger toppings. The Robert with A-1 and mushrooms is a classic, but if you are feeling really silly, go for the Pearl Harbor (ham and pineapple) or the Carnegie (corned beef and sauerkraut).

The Exchange, huh? That does it. We have finally reached the end of the internet. Now EVERY restaurant has been recommended at least once.

LOL, Steve. Casual food, Saturday dinner, table for 8, little advance notice. Pickings are slim in that neighborhood.

Hey, I could have sent them to Bertucci's....

We're going to M&S Grill after all that. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and comments!
