Yeah, loading boards and topics is very, very slow this morning.

Also getting lots of "connection reset" and "there's been a slight problem" errors. For example, it took me four tries to get to this board to post this.
This is about as bad as it has ever been since CNET took over.

I hardly evah ditto... but in this case, it's warranted.

I've been trying to get to this board to post a "IT'S GETTING ALL WONKY AGAIN!" message and it's taken about 3-4 tries to even get to the board. I'm getting the same messages as Robert.

They should just put up a "Site Down" message and have done with it... At least then I wouldn't be hitting my head against the wall, over and over and over again...

Just now as I was waiting and waiting and waiting (for Godot?) for the site to connect to a board I notices that down in the corner were the words "Connecting to bs.server-syst" and my mind immediately said "Oh, this system is serving me a heaping pile of BS - for sure"

Got the above when I clicked on my Avatar which was missing on this thread for a few minutes.

It is about the worst since CNET took over and has been all day.

MUCH better this morning. Thank God!

Maybe it was at 2AM, but it's been a nightmare since 8 this morning.

Agreed. It took me ten minutes of repeated attempts to get to this topic.
In addition to the same errors as yesterday, I'm having failures (with no error) when I click Reply or Report, and have to reload the page to get it to work.

also very slow for me the past few days. I am getting fed up with this site.

Agree with others -- site is as slow and unresponsive as it's ever been. Engineering: Pay attention to what your regulars are telling you!

Seems back to normal today.

Cross fingers!

Once again, site is very slow. What's more, threads I know I've read (such as this one) show up expanded. Engineering, please wake up.

Aaarrrgggh! This is SO frustrating - for one day (yesterday) pretty much everything worked like it's supposed to - click a link and up it comes. Now back to this mess.

I'm not having any problems this morning. Have you tried logging out and clearing your cache?

Off and on for weeks now with the slow loading of pages and Chow errors. Please get this fixed.

I spoke too soon, right after I posted that I started seeing major latency, though no errors so far.
Maybe the board's just underpowered and has problems at peak times.
Yep, we're back to slow and "connection was reset" messages. BTW, couldn't find this thread under Site Talk a few minutes ago.

Yes, and site usage peaks before Thanksgiving for cooking tips historically, so the problem's amplified now.

So basically your saying that the turkey has slowed down the turkey... ;-D>

That's right, stick a fork in it! And the site changes seem to have bumped up traffic considerably . . . maybe from each of us having to refresh multiple times when we get error messages or it might be real growth.

Peak times? That means 24/7 lately if that's the problem!! Screen is slower than ever. Lots of notices about problems and continual disconnect!! There has to be an answer, other than just giving up on Chowhound, which I am about ready to do! Maybe a new crew is needed!!

I haven't been having any problems today. Fast right now.

Do you think it might help if we all change our user icons to this?

Funny! Just got 6 of those!!

Yeah, looks like the whole site was shut down for a little while. Hopefully so they could reboot the system after doing a bunch of bug fixes.
