Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada (exc. Phoenix, Las Vegas)

Phoenix to Las Cruces, NM

We're leaving on Saturday the 21st of November . . . any suggestions for lunch or snacks on our drive from Phoenix to Las Cruces?

    1. I've made that drive a number of times, and haven't found anything particularly exciting (except in Tucson of course). I think the offerings in Deming are better than in Lordsburg. El Camino Real (just off I-10 on the W side of Deming) is decent for Mexican food and will put Hatch chiles on just about anything. I've heard the Adobe Grill in Deming is okay too, but never been-- I'm not sure whether it's open for lunch, or perhaps only on certain days? I think Deming also has a Blake's Lotaburger (a NM-only chain), but I haven't been there in a long time. There are a lot of bad places to eat in those two towns too-- even their fast food franchises seem to be subpar a lot of the time.

        1. There's a place in Deming on the north side of the main drag called "La Fuente" or "La Fona", Mom & Pop Mexican place with a buffet for lunch, not bad but always crowded at lunch time. Anymore I always go with the green chile cheeseburgers at Blakes Lottaburger for a quick lunch.

The St. Clair Bistro is actually in Las Cruces, the location in Deming is only a winery/tasting room and doesnt serve food.

Also, the place bigshot is reffering too is La Fonda, and its alright, but buffet for the most part.

I would wait until you arrive in Las Cruces where there will be many more options available to you.

                      • We really like Irma's in Deming. Packed with locals, which is a good sign.
