Bo Kong, Vancouver - What should I order?

Res. was made for Bo Kong this coming Sunday.

Coincidentally it appears as the best restaurant in the Vegetarian Section of the Chinese Restaurant Awards 2010 mentioned on this board.

I hear the shitake mushrooms are good as is the Sweet and Sour soup.

Anyone else have a dynamite dish there?

    1. The mock-meat (gluten/seitan) dishes are decent. They also have a yin-yang soup that was quite nice.

        1. I was there about two weeks ago. The shitake mushroom is generally pretty good but my last visit, it wasn't up to par so it could be an off night. One of my favorites is the mock pork belly with taro in a hot pot. A lot of peple like their sizzling plates. They have skewers or chowmein. If you don't mind eating seaweed, they do have a fried enoki mushroom wrap in seaweed that's quite good too.

Thanks for the recs. There was 12 dishes and while they were okay, I wouldn't go over broken glass to get there again.

              Found no complexity of flavour.

Yes for sure. I have had a lot of this type of vegetarian food. And it always tastes like it is missing something.....

                2. Just a FYI. Bo Kong on Main Street is now closed, their last day was yesterday.

Has anyone been to the restaurant that's opened up in its place? I think it's also vegetarian. Maybe it's a matter of same place, new name?
