From the spice people, McCormick's Latino tea bags - Jaimaica, lemongrass and black tea with cinnamon

So far I've only tried the jaimaica. It was as good as any brewed from scratch and easier to deal with.

It is nice if you just want a single serving or are in the office and would like a cup

I'm not sure why the lemongrass is in there though. I'll probably try the black tea with cinnamon next.

Tea isn't really something I look for in Latino markets so I don't know how widely distributed it is. For Bay Area Chowhounds, I found it at FoodCo in Vallejo. It was at the end of the veggie aisle across from the bake goods.

    1. hmm, i'd try the lemongrass. but it's odd that lemon grass is marketed to latinos, as i don't know that it is used much (if at all, in latin or caribbean cooking). am i wrong?

lemongrass is citronella (or what citronella is derived from), and is intensely aromatic. now, i'm going to see if any recipes use it (in non-asian recipes, that is).

oh, well, apparently it is not used in latin cooking, but just as a tea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cymbopogon

Thanks for the info. Never knew the medicinal qualities of lemongrass. I know many of those Mexican herb and spices are just used medicinally. I never noticed lemongrass before. I wouldn't be familiar with the Spanish name though. Will have to look again to see if I spot it with the regular spices

rw, have you tried artichoke tea yet?

                1. re: HillJ

No. Sounds interesting " smooth and naturally sweet flavor, rich mouthfeel, and surprising aroma reminiscent of vanilla or Cadbury's chocolate. When iced, its flavor shifts towards licorice and the aroma is less pronounced, producing an entirely different, refreshing drink"

I'll keep an eye out for it. For all the times I've been to Castorville, I've never had the artichoke ice cream mentioned in that link. Now I have a craving for it. I'll bet that would be good too.

The artichoke tea is outstanding. The description I found to be a bit over the top but nonetheless appealed to me. I enjoy it iced very much.
