Where would you go?

I'd be interested in hearing about places that might have good versions of grilled cheese, tuna melts, burgers, Cobb Salads.

Even a rec for a better than average coffee shop/diner/luncheonette would be great!

I'd highly recommend Certe (20 West 55th, btwn 5th & 6th Aves). Delicious simple food. A bit more upscale than a diner, yet not too fancy and well-priced. It can be a little hard to find, and when you walk in it's all counter service but walk to the back and there's a dining area.

It's exactly what you're looking for.

Landmarc and the cafe at Bouchon Bakery are both in the Time Warner Center and are close to that area and will have what you're looking for.

          thanks for all your recs!
Landmarc looks exactly like the type of menu I was hoping to find, but will also keep La Bonne Soupe, Bouchon Bakery, Certe and 5 Napkin Burger on my list.
