Hey there. I'm in charge of planning my roommate's birthday dinner and been running up against a wall trying to find a restaurant that will work. Basically, we're looking for a good, italian restaurant in Manhattan that can accommodate around 18 people and won't exceed $25 per person including tax and tip. Any suggestions?

Dean's Pizza. The square pizza is terrific. The apps, desserts, and wine are all good values. $25 pp including tip when my group goes.

I'm glad to see from the earlier reply that Sotto Cinque still exists. What about the Pomodoro restaurants? I haven't been in a long time, but there used to be about three of them, all inexpensive - like Pomodoro, Pomodoro Rosso, etc.

East Village has John's of 12th Street that can accommodate a large group and also has a party menu in your price range.

Def Sotto Cinque. Went there recently with a group and had a great time. The prices were low for drinks and food!
