Woo Hoo! Sichuan Style Restaurant Opens on Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel

What will they think of next--it's probably been days since the last such opening. Home Town is the name, and it's upstairs at 250 W. Valley Blvd., so nobody will know it's there, down the corridor from where Green Village lived and died. Home Town takes over from The Hot Pots, the quirky baked rice specialist. 90 percent of the Home Town menu is marked spicy which is not my style, so I settled for the Jing Dong meat pies which were pretty good. Incidentally, on the other side of the same shopping center it seems that Captain Crab has opened up a pho annex upstairs, powered by Noodle City. Frankly I hadn't realized there was usuable space upstairs--I thought that just was where the kitchen was located.

I was told the pho annex was running 50% off bun/pho specials, and then visited a week later to find the darn thing totally gone! What the heck?
