Where to find soft shell crab in SF?

Is there anywhere in the city that will have it this time of the year...and is it good? How are prices? Thanks.

  1. South might fly some in from Australia. Season in the US is April through October.

    1. They're available frozen in just about any Americanized sushi bar for the spider rolls.

      1. Soft shell crabs are not a West Coast thing. So, if you find one it will have been shipped in from elsewhere and probably frozen.

        Seems odd that someone would be looking for crabs sent from someone else's coast when our annual -- Crab-Season-Has-Begun! -- euphoria is upon us.

        1. I recall that Izzy's Steaks & Chops (in the Marina district & elsewhere) has served soft shell crabs in the past. You could call them and see if they have them now.

          1. The House had them this spring when they were in season on the east coast, but I doubt they're still serving them.
