Please help: romantic post-opera dinner

Hello NY Hounds. I am coming from Boston this weekend with my wife for a romantic weekend away from the kids (the first in four years or so). We will be at the metropolitan opera until 9:40 Saturday, looking for a light yet romantic dinner for afterwards (this is pretty late for us boring provincial bostonians), somewhere close. I apologize if this is a common request, but I couldn't find anything with a board search, and my understanding of NY geography is limited.

A recommendation for snacks and drinks for pre-opera would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

My pick would definitely be Picholine. We had a superb tasting dinner there recently. But the menu offers many options for light dining. They have what is considered the best cheese cart in the city, so do think of including it. Service is excellent, and the ambiance is lovely.

Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is quite romantic - views of the park are lovely. I second Nougatine as well.

One of my NY favs is right in the area, Picholine. It's expensive and may not be considered "light" but the menu has many options to suit your needs/taste. As far as romantic, yes, very.

Before hand you could look into Bar Boulud or if Picholine doesn't work for after you could hit the front of the house for lighter fare.

I second Picholine. For pre-opera drinks and nibbles, perhaps the bar at Nougatine or the Mandarin Oriental.
