Duling-Kurtz, Ship Inn, Gables at Chadds Ford?

Taking our mom out for her 70th birthday party....looking for a nice special-occasion place....fancy is good, so long as it's not "stuffy"

Been looking at these....anyone suggest one over the other, or a different restaurant in the Delco/Chesco area?

You might want to consider Sovana Bistro in Kennett. Great food, lively atmosphere, and they have a nice room that can be set aside for private parties. http://www.sovanabistro.com

      Thanks......by "party" I didn't mean to imply a large group, sorry....we're talking 6 people.

What about the General Warren Inne?

I haven't been to the Gen. Warren Inn in quite some time, so I really can't say. But not too far from there is Alba (I think it's in Malvern) which is quite good. http://www.restaurantalba.com

We like Alba and Dilworthtown Inn. Haven't been impressed with Duling-Kurtz or General Warren.

I would also recommend Seven Stars Inn in Phoenixville (Chester County) . Great atmosphere and service, huge portions, delicious seafood and prime rib!

I 2nd the Dilworthtown Inn - my hubby has business dinners there often, and is always happy w/ the service they provide to larger parties. I have also eaten there, and the food is very good. It's not stuffy, but it is fancy enough for a special occasion!
