Fresh Key Limes in Los Angeles, where to find 'em?

PinotPlease Nov 16, 2009 07:02 PM

Hey All:

I'm hoping to make a traditional Florida Key Lime Pie for an un-traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Does anyone know (with certainty) who carries fresh key limes in Los Angeles this time of year? I know that sometimes you can even get them at an upscale Ralph's but has anyone actually seen them with their own eyes this week? Bonus points for Hollywood/mid-city area.

Thanks!

Pretty much any Mexican market has those little key limes. Don't know your area well enough to make specific recs, sorry.

I have seen them at Ralphs in Pasadena, but I didn't look this week. Mid City, eh? Have you tried the Bristol Farms on Sunset? As Prof. Salt suggests, you could go to Liborio (one on Vermont, one on 3rd St., East of Vermont).

Not your neck of the woods, but I saw them on Saturday at HOWS market in Pasadena. Really, I think you'll find them at just about any grocery store. In your area, check the closest Gelson's or probably just about any Mexi-Mart.

You'll find it no problem at JONS on La Brea...

I saw 2 lb. bags of Key Limes at 99 Cents Only Store yesterday (Nov 19) . The store I was at is on Washington Blvd in Culver City. I'm pretty sure other locations also have them in stock.

They almost always have them in bags at the Vons at the Sunset/Hollywood/Virgil/Hillhurst intersection.
