Local Meat/Smokehouse in the Upper Valley
Hi All - We're wondering what you all have found as far as great bacon, lamb, beef, or other heart friendly, OK not necessarily heart friendly, but tasty, venues in and around the Upper Valley.
The whole local scene would be best, but not necessary.
Who is producing the most delightful farm raised tidbits in and around Hanover, Norwich, White River, or anywhere within a reasonable drive?
Also, any real milk producers in the area?
We're up for a roadtrip if need be.
Thanks!
Dewey

I get my meat from Cloudland Farm on Cloudland Road in Pomfret VT. They have a little shop at their farm...usually open Saturday mornings that I know of...perhaps some other days as well. They will also have a booth at the Market on the Green in Woodstock on Wednesdays in the summer

I like to buy grass fed beef from BlackWatch farm in Weathersfield. (The Inn at Weathersfield, by the way, uses almost entirely local meats.) I like Happy Hogs in Woodstock. I like Jersey Girls' veal in Chester, VT. And their raw milk is AWESOME!
While you're in Chester, have a slice at Pizza Stone.

Check out Hogwash farm. They are in Norwich and are at the farmer's market on Saturdays. Their website is http://hogwashfarm.com/. Great products and nice people!

Vermont Smoke and Cure (Barre, VT) and Garfields (Meriden, NH) are two of my favorites.
North Country Smokehouse in Claremont does a really good product as well, but I don't know how "local" the meat is.
Milk: McNamara Dairy in Plainfield.
(New to the area?)
