Recommendations for special dinner in Atlanta

My sister and I are taking my very grown-up niece out for her 16th birthday and we want someplace special. I am looking for something more on the elegant side, French if possible, although this is not an absolute requirement. I have been looking at posts, and many of the most highly recommended Atlanta restaurants are modern Southern food or are in industrial type settings that can be lovely and hip but always seem so noisy to me. It will be a splurge, but I'd like to keep it at $50 per person if possible.

I think you would really like Joel. It is a very sophisticated environment and is the best French in the city. They have a 4 course menu special for $39 that is a great deal.

I think Aria is a wonderful suggestion. I would add Woodfire Grill it is so great!

Have you thought about Aria? It's a bit hip-looking, which I suspect a 16-yr old would like, but still quiet and elegant because it's a small space. Honestly, I've had pretty mixed experiences with the service there so I won't likely go back, but the food has always been outstanding.
