While I am a regular at Eastern Empire and once in a while order off of their very limited pseudo Thai menu (just for a change), should this be manned by the same cooks as the one in Towne Shopping Center, one should consider 'a pass'.
How interesting that this may be the new owners, who are very nice folks, but how coincidental did I ALMOST ask them (just this past Friday as I ordered the Pad Wosoon, if they were ever going to hire a real Thai chef to cook this cuisine. Which would've been crass on my part, YES, but the thought was there.
I'll keep 4 Seasons up in the So. Plainfield area as my immediate 'fix' for real Thai for the time being.
Just went to the one in Eatontown. Same owners, same menu. Will be opening Friday, Nov. 20. Thai is obviously an afterthought. It will probably be passable, but looks like a big loss for Lincroft.
Also, there is another new Chinese restaurant opening around the corner by Manhattan Bagel, scheduled for December. So there will be competition. It remains to be seen if that is good (better food from both) or bad (kill off each other).
