Recommendations for post concert drinks - Aragon Ballroom
I'm flying into town to catch the Pixies concert at the Aragon Ballroom (1106 W Lawrence) on this Friday, Nov. 20. I am looking for a place that might be local that would meet the following:
Good post concert restaurant/bar/lounge that has a bar staff well versed in classic and modern cocktails
Atmosphere that is classy but not overdone, not too intimate, but not loud and crowded either. Basically the type of place that you can carry on a conversation and if it gets deep, you can have that conversation, but not so loud you can't hear yourself think.
Any recommendations are appreciated.
You're not going to find a bar like that near the Aragon. Uptown is a diverse, colourful neighborhood, but not one that really skews upscale. (f you want to take a cab to another neighborhood there are a ton of options.)
There are a couple great bars in Andersonville (very close) that you might enjoy, one is Hopleaf, a bar with several hundred beers on tap and in bottles, also great food. http://www.hopleaf.com/ The other is decidedly NOT upscale, but is a local hangout for lots of musicians, punks, hipsters and old local men. It will be hopping post concert. Simon's was a speakeasy back in the day, and has a great vibe, plus, it's close enough to Christmas that they should be serving glogg! http://www.simonstavern.com/ It's a dive, but a great dive.
Enjoy the show, I am SOOOOO jealous!

Fat Cat, one block north of the Aragon, on Broadway, might suit your needs. They have plenty of cocktails, and the crowd is usually lively, but not loud and obnoxious.
And, there's always the Green Mill - a jazz club and former hangout of Al Capone.
