Cocktails in DC!

Hi everyone!

I just moved here from San Francisco and am wondering about good cocktails/bartenders to check out in DC. So far I tried the Gibson (I loved the atmosphere and was impressed by its ice! But the drinks seemed so complex!). Any other thoughts out there? So far I've looked up a place called Wisdom. Looks interesting.

The Manhatten at Central. Palena does good cocktails. Still haven't tried Gibson

Check out Gazuza in DC, near Dupont. Best Mojitos I've had around.

Fabulous suggestions! Thanks so much all! I am going to try them out and report back, likely on my blog ( http://thejoyofdrinking.blogspot.com ).

I did try out Proof, and the one drink I tried was pretty delicious. Tonight I also tried The Gibson for the second time... and was disappointed again. :-( Your suggestions definitely encourage me, though.

You have some good suggestions above. I love PX for an ultimate cocktail, a little pricey but worth it for what you get.

I would add Zengo, Oya (don't get Sangria, their dark and stormy's are good), for traditional cocktails the Round Robin is fun. The Tabard Inn is also good for traditional cocktails.

In Northern Virginia also Eventide and Liberty Tavern have very good cocktails.

The bar at Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons. They're class acts. Also, PS7. And PX is wonderful but hard to get into, so you can also find Todd Thrasher's wonderful cocktails and highly trained bartenders at The Majestic, also in Old Town.

My 2 go to spots are PS7 and Central. Both has excellent (seasonal) drink choices and friendly bartenders. Plus it doesn't hurt that you can get top notch food choices at both spots.

There are some good drinks at Proof in Chinatown.
Not DC proper... but, In old town, there's the place above Eammon's called PX.
