I haven't been to Anselmo's on Van Brunt in Red Hook or Franny's in Park Slope but have received several recommendations for both. I'm sure someone can comment on those. We - of course - love DiFara in Midwood but it's not really the kind of place to linger with pals.

you're in brooklyn and you want waiters? robertas is great. Sams would be fun - old school and great in a different way.
I havent been there, but you might want to check out Saraghina. Where are yuo looking in brooklyn - it's a big borough. They all are pretty big, actually.

Yes, if you can schlep out to Bushwick Roberta's is fantastic. It's our current favorite for "gourmet pies." Price & size seems a little better than Frannys (2 pies could feed 3 people). Young, funky vibe, good music.

Franny's if you're in Prospect Height/Park Slope and Roberta's if B'burg/Bushwick

If you strike out at Lucali, I suggest stayng in the neighborhood and going to South Brooklyn Pizzeria -- I think their pies are fantastic...fresh herbs, imported cheeses, superior crust, etc. They do it right and are largely unheralded. They have a takeout storefront annexed to a tavern -- PJ Hanley's -- where you can get sit-down service (and beer/wine/cocktails!). It's on Court at 4th Pl.
I second Franny's and Roberta's, but think Anselmo's is sub-par. Better off at Ignazio'$ in DUMBO.

I'm a fan of sosta in Brooklyn heights/cobble hill. Surprisingly good pizza, elegant neighborhood vibe. Great for lingering, actually. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

I went to Sosta just last week. I thought it was only okay. The toppings were good, but I felt like the crust wasn't very exciting. I'm *all* about the crust, so sometimes that's the only thing I'll notice. Of the two, I'd rank Savoia higher than Sosta.
That's not to say that I won't go back to Sosta. I enjoyed it. The vibe was good and the staff were super friendly. But IMHO it's not a good Plan B for Lucali.
