Cambodian food?
Missing the great food I had in Cambodia on a trip a few months back - anyone have an idea where I can get some?

Folks have been searching for Cambodian food in DC on this board for a while, but I don't think anyone has ever found any. Out of curiosity, though, what food did you like in Cambodia? People I know who've lived there for extended periods generally downplay Khmer food vs. the cuisines of neighboring countries, and say that we're not missing anything by not having any Cambodian restaurants here.

re: sweth
Sweth raises a good point. Comparing Cambodian food to Vietnamese or Thai food is cruel. The worst sidewalk cafes in Trat are orders of magnitude better than the best restaurants in Sisophon, Battambang, Siem Riep and Phonm Penh. I remember spiders, roasted bamboo, and Thai clone type recipes. I don't remember good Cambodian food. The best Cambodian food I had was in Battambang, and it seemed fairly Thai to me.

re: sweth
I miss Cambodian food tremendously. So much so that every time I go home to visit my family in Cleveland, I stop by Phnom Penh (they have two locations but the 25th St is newer and nicer looking -- food is awesome at both). www.ohiorestaurant.com takes you to their site and you can drool over their menu. Chha Kreoung Marass Prowt is my absolute favorite but their Mikroolaa and Loath Chha are awesome too. This doesn't help you in DC but it does help you if you swing by Cleveland (a short 1 hour flight away) :)
