Have an unexpected brief night out from the kids, like 2 hours, and looking for something cheap and fun for dinner. Just did Orinoco, was great. Looking for something casual, anything new? Thought about Regal Beagle, heard mixed things. That fish taco place in Coolidge Corner? Other recs?

If the fish taco place you're thinking of is Dorado, it's really more of a quality fast food joint, you wouldn't want to spend two hours there. Regal Beagle is a possibility, not super cheap but reasonable ($13 for a hamburger with fries, for example). But it just opened and is pretty hot right now so might be a problem getting a table. You might consider Taberna de Haro, they have a good variety of very authentic Spanish dishes in various sizes and prices, with a lively, fun atmosphere.

I ate at Regal Beagle on Tuesday and really liked it. I thought it was reasonable (apps about $5, entrees around 20), but would not call it cheap. We had the halibut, scallops - great. The stuffed dates, fab. The sweet potato tempura, meh. Great service, great vibe and I'll be going again.
Dorado's tacos are cheap and tasty, but I wouldn't travel to CC just for that.
Have you tried Himalayan Bistro in West Roxbury? If you haven't had momo's yet, here's your chance!
