IMO, W&L does have the best quality cold cuts in the Baltimore area. Their selection of house-made aufschnitt (layered deli meat) loaf are truly amazing and unlike any I have ever seen. Their corned beef, frankfurters and tongue are heavenly. I would say their bulk meat is equally as good as my favorite, Treuth & Sons in Oella (who is probably their supplier, they ship more kosher beef than any other processor on the east coast). Their butchers don't flinch at custom orders and cuts and there is only enough schmutz to make the shop authentic. But would I drive 3.5 hours to buy some? Probably not, but then again I only have to drive 15 minutes. If you do come on the weekend, remember as a glatt kosher shop they are closed on Shabbat and close at 2:30 PM on Sunday. And be sure to stop at Goldman's Bakery for some rugelach, coffee strip, a babka and a loaf of rye bread to go with the cold cuts.
