Best moderately priced pumpkin pie?

Okay, it's not that hard to find good pumpkin pie that's expensive. But how about recommendations for ones that aren't expensive?

    1. Fairway offers one for 7 bucks. I have good memories of enjoying it in the past and will likely by one this Thanksgiving. I think the crust may have been a little soft, though. That's less of an issue for me since I just like the filling :)

Agreed; it is a good buy. I actually like the Whole Foods one a little better as it has a more complex flavor with the spices. It is a bit pricier at $11 but still not too steep.
Keep in mind I am also one of those that eats the filling and leaves the crust. Maybe I've just never had a truly good crust....

Yup, my recollection is Whole Foods had more going on the spice front. Fairway's is more straightforward, maybe a bit more comforting? I guess it's a matter of preference. Both good values in their own ways ...

You both took me completely by surprise, as I'd been thinking exclusively in terms of actual bakeries. Thanks for the new ideas!

              • I love the ones from Two Little Red Hens 86/2nd ave.
                $19 for 6inch
                $25 for 10in

Except that I don't consider$25 for a pie to be moderately priced, although Two Little Red Hen is a well-regarded bakery.

                    • I had a sample of pumpkin pie at Grandaisy bakery today. I don't know what they charge, but it sure tasted good. Pumpkin seeds on the top.

le pain quotidien - 19 bucks for 10 inch pie...really excellent.

I tried some today. You're right, it's scrumptious. I'll probably buy one for Thanksgiving ($24, I think), plus a Grandaisy cake. There will be no lack of desserts at my place this year!
