Blueberry Garnish on Aviation Cocktail?
The Aviation cocktails served at the Edison and Varnish in Los Angeles are garnished with what taste like brandied blueberries. Are they available commercially, or do the bars make them from scratch?

They are Luxardo marasca cherries. You can find them at Wally's, Surfas, and K&L Wine Merchants.

Homemade brandied / bourboned cherries are even better. I have had the Luxardo ones recently at the Varnish, but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that they have housemade ones when they're in season. To me, the Luxardo ones are a little sweet, and not that good for the price. The texture is a little chewier, which I guess you either like or don't like (maybe they start with dried cherries?).
