Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Greater Chicago

Texas foodies downtown for the weekend

My wife and I are heading to the Navy Pier area for an anniversary weekend. What are some suggestions and "must have's" that we should enjoy? I'm sure that we will have everything from casual meals to fine dining.

Thanks in advance.

    1. Could you be a bit more specific? This is a huge town with thousands of restaurants.

You'll get recommendations for everything from Spoon Thai, where dishes cost $5 and you can get Thai food you have never tasted before, to the kitchen table at Charlie Trotter's, where you'll spend $300 a person.

If this is your anniversary, you might consider L2O. It's way out of my price range, but is supposed to be surreal. The freshest and most imaginative seafood in town. Very expensive, but I have never heard anyone complain about the price, the food, or the service.
