Where Can I Buy "Palais Des Thes" Tea in NYC?

sanangel Nov 12, 2009 08:22 AM

I'm looking to find a local store (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens) that might carry a selection of teas from Palais Des Thes. I know I can order the teas online, but the cost of shipping is really quite outrageous..

Any ideas?

I love the PdT and was just looking for the same thing when up came your request. They used to have one in lower Manhattan years ago but it closed. There was also one on Rodeo Drive, but they did not ship. Their web site indicates outlets only in France, Dublin, London, Brussels, Oslo, Ljubljana, and Tokyo. Lets e-mail PdT to see if they have any retailers in NYC or suburbs who carry any of their products.

I e-mailed PdT. They have no retail outlets in NYC.
Their US website (http://www.palaisdesthes.com/us/) indicates a very reasonable UPS flat rate of $15 for shipping orders under $150 to your US residence and 3 days delivery time. The shipping is free for orders of $150 or more. Their full response follows below:

We acknowledge receipt of your message and would like to thank you for your interest in le Palais des Th├ęs. Please be informed that we do not have retailers in NYC. All our teas are also available on our US website and we suggest you to discover it. The cost for shipping is quoted automatically on the web order form. We keep staying at your service, please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.

I just admired one of their tins last night at this store in Grand Central, Tea & Honey:

Thank you, nitajan. The Tea & Honey web site is a bit skimpy, so we called and verified they have a small selection of PdT Earl Greys, but not the Imperial variety we first fell in love with in Paris. Two weeks later, we saw Bye Bye Birdie (12/12-matinee) at the Henry James Theatre on 43rd St. After our post-theatre pre-theatre dinner at Kellari Taverna on 44th St., we strolled over to Grand Central Station, found Tea & Honey and bought 100 g tins of PdT Earl Grey Lords and Earl Grey Blue (each $17/tin), and a 100 g tin of Rishi's Jasmine Pearls ($22/tin). No tax. We've been in tea heaven ever since. Ten thousand blessings be upon your head. You're the real angel here.

I received two PdT 100g containers of The' des Lords tea. I'm not that into tea, so I would be very willing to get these into the hands of someone who appreciates this. You can contact me at jmkobel@gmail.com. I'm not in NYC, but I have no problem shipping them to you.

You can also find PdT at Tea & Honey's branch at Lexington & 63rd opened just about a month ago.
