Where to buy rabbit in NYC?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a butcher in NYC who sells good rabbit? Thanks!

    1. I imagine that any good butcher would have it or could order it. I'm sure I've seen it at Jeffrey's in the Essex Street Market, for instance. (I'm not bying it though. Especially not after re-reading "Watership Down.")

        1. It's a hit or miss because they don't always have it, but Violet Hill Farm at the Saturday Union Square green market has excellent rabbit. Otherwise, Ottomanelli's always has it.

            1. I'm pretty sure they have it at Esposito's Pork Shop.

Esposito's usually has it but call ahead (38th and 9th)

I usually find it at the Union Square Green Market, though.

                  • Citarella often has rabbit.

                      1. Los Paisanos on Smith Street in Brooklyn.

                          1. The meat folks at Grand Central Market have it. They usually marinade it (which is pretty good)and sell it in halves, but you can ask for it ahead of time however you like. Fyi - It's often not in the display case but they usually have it.

                            1. Ottamanelli on Bleecker St has rabbits that are good

                                1. Marlow & Daughters on Broadway in Williamsburg has had rabbit frequently lately. I haven't had the rabbit yet, but every meat I've bought there has been great - all locally raised, grass-pastured and sustainably farmed. I'd recommend calling to confirm before schlepping over if all you want is rabbit.

                                    1. Florence meat Market on Jones Street. Call ahead.
