Chef Morales at Town Hall
Now that I know not to eat the sentient octopus, I can only dream of Chef Morales' Winterland carpaccio. Meanwhile, we chow on duck confit and petrale sole at a Town Hall lunch. The duck confit, deliciously rich and melty - a Liberty Farms leg of duck on green lentils with frisee and Fuji apple... the perfectly seared Petrale Sole on a bed of mixed grains with quinoa, lacinato kale and a brightly flavored chorizo-lentil vinaigrette.
Then, a quick zip down Howard, a turn on 8th Street to Townsend to Patisserie Philippe for coffee and eclairs - both chocolate and mocha

OMG. That octopus carpaccio was amazing. Here's hoping that Chef Morales finds an opportunity to do more of the type of food he was doing at Winterland soon. Nothing against Town Hall, but at the risk of sounding like one of the Cal-Cuisine bashers, we don't really need more restaurants serving rustic, seasonal, etc. fare.
