Restaurant Locations on Map is beyond FUBAR
Is Jfood the only one who notices the location of restaurants on the map on the right side totally beyond comprehension. On one map on the Midwest board the restaurant location appears about 250 miles southwest of Niger in the middle of the ocean. The Flay Throwdown with Michelle's Pies on the tristate has a location in Levittown, NY and this one about New Canaan CT come up with a street map of San Francisco:

The CH google map feature is just insane. I reported many threads (stopped after a while) on the Restaurant autolink glitch thread. Then squidkun started a new thread here http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/663451 . The CH map can't figure anything out getting Manhattan and Brooklyn addresses regularly wrong.
I asked that they turn that feature off until they can get it working properly. No one from CH has replied about that issue on any of those threads as far as I can see.

I'm curious as to whether those Manhatten and Brooklyn spots use a PO Box for their mail. Just askin cause when I recently mentioned a local diner, the map placed it at the Post Office. (We have no street delivery where I live - only PO Boxes.) I'm seriously tempted to test this out by mentioning several restaurants in the area and seeing if they all pile up at the post office. Hee hee!

No. It just seems that when there is, e.g., a Manhattan address of 4th Avenue, the computer doesn't know that it's in Manhattan despite a zip code being clearly attached to the address and instead CH locates it in Brooklyn. The addresses above the map are usually right but the map is clearly, egregiously wrong. And not just 4th Ave but many, many other locations. Probably upwards of 50% of the maps I've noticed discussing Manhattan restaurants ON THE MANHATTAN BOARD! are located in Brooklyn according to Chow's map. They even put the Four Seasons in Bushwick. It is just so beyond wrong.

Sorry if I sounded abrupt with you, clamscasino. I'm just so annoyed with all the stupid "innovations" rolled out here lately on CH that don't work. And that nobody from "The Chowhound Team" or "Chow HQ" or "Engineering" has bothered to comment on any of these map issues, even just to say they are aware of the problem and working on it or whatever.
I am sure it's not just Manhattan and Brooklyn either, as others note. Chow maps can't seem to tell the difference between Main Street, New York and Main Street, Trenton or whatever. I mean really, the addresses have zip codes, how hard is this? The real google maps doesn't get it wrong. So the problem is inside Chow somehow.

No apologies needed. I didn't feel that you were being abrupt. Was just curious if that may have been part of the problem, i.e. that if the mailing address was different than the street address, the map would show the restaurant at the mailing address instead of the street one.
Agree that it IS annoying that there hasn't been any response from "the Team."

A number of staff is on vacation. Those of us on the moderation team left manning the home fires can't help on stuff like this.

Thanks guys...with the shills jfood has seen on the Tr-State Board alone over the last two weeks, your hands are 130% full.
Hopefully the same situation is not at Garmin. :-))

Huh, the map I see there is the NYC Tristate area, well mostly the tTristate area- it looks like the link for Restaurant H is wrong, pointing to someplace near Scranton, PA.

My thought exactly! Why is there a map of Savannah, Georgia featured on the thread about M&T (Chinese) restaurant in Flushing, Queens, New York?
