11/09 Anyone Seen Coffee Coated Peanuts in A Can at CMart etc?

Before Super 88 on Comm Ave. went through its demise,, I was thrilled to see that they sold these coffee cracker coated peanuts in a tall can (Indonesian or Thai I think) that I used to have to ship back to Boston from Vancouver. When I last shopped at Super 88, I stocked up, but then my stock dissipated and Super 88 closed. Has anyone seen these at the Medford super 88 or the CMart or anywhere else? They are not carried by China International or Sun Sun, and I did not find them at H Mart. Thanks so much.

    1. Yikes! Did I miss something? Is Super 88 in Allston (most recently called Hong Kong Market) closed?

          No, it's not closed.

No, I'm afraid we have a case of misinformedchef. The store is not only not closed, it's stronger and more fully stocked (especially in terms of snack foods, which they've added an entire new section of) than it's been in years.

As much as I like H-Mart, I am going to have to make it a point to visit HKM and support them. H-Mart has a decent selection of Chinese items, but there is no substitute for a real Chinese market when you are going to do some serious Chinese cooking. Besides which, there's the wonderful food court to enjoy...

Honestly, I've heard nothing about H-Mart that makes me inclined to go all the way out to Burlington when HKM is about 100 yards from my front door.

Very logical. I would do the same if I lived where you do. However, I am in Belmont; the two drives take about the same time to complete. (Allston may be closer but the traffic moves more slowly). When I go to the H-Mart I often pop into the MB and sometimes hit the TJ's just down the road. And, since 128 is so close at hand, I've sometimes expanded the trip to include a visit to Costco. How's that for an example of the difference between urban and semi-suburban life?

BFP, so glad to hear about the improvement. Are the same food court places there? Does the HKM have dim sum to go?Next time you go there, might you see if they carry those peanuts? I'm thinking that if i call them , the language difference may be a problem.

Yes, the food court remains the same. There's a dim sum stall in the food court, but not in the market. If I remember to do so, I'll have a look for the peanuts.
