New Bellingham restaurants!
Super Mario's, featuring foods of El Salvador ... pupusas, fajitas and "wonder burritos." All with an option of different meats or veggie-only. Going to check it out tonight! The family loves pupusas.
Also, Bloom opened recently. A vegan restaurant downtown in the former Kendrick's Billards location. Hubby and daughter ate there and gave it good reviews. The menu is limited now, but the owners plan to expand.
Nice to have some new options in town, particularly ones that don't cost a fortune.

I think Super Marios is owned by the people who have the truck by N. Forest-- and their truck food is good. It'd be even better if the tortillas weren't bought, but I can see why that would be hard in a truck! I haven't tried their restaurant, but I'm definitely going to. This town really needs more authentic and made-with-love food, and I'd bet the restaurant is along those lines.

Super Marios -- I have trouble getting past the name; the video game keeps popping up in my brain. How was the food?

re: puzzler
Yea, the video game association is a little hard to overcome. My hubby picked up some food to-go last week. They were swamped and were out of a lot of items. Sounded like the usual new restaurant glitches. We tried a burrito, pupusas (they were out of the mushroom/cheese, though) and some desserts. Everything was okay but not as good as we get in Seattle. We're going to wait a month or so and give them another try after they work out more of the glitches. Really want to try the tamales.

re: puzzler
We recently tried Super Marios too. Had the asada burrito and the chicken tamales plate. I am always on the prowl for new lunch places, and would love to say I found a winner. But, we felt it was no better, no worse, than the casual mexican places on Railroad in downtown. So however you feel about those, Super Marios is comparable. Me, not so much...
