Quiet dinner for two friends

Any recommendations for a spot for two girls to catch up? Good food, good service, warm athmosphere. Haven't been out in a while and don't know where to start looking.

West side of the island below 59th Street preferred: Meatpacking, West Village, West 50s, Hell's, etc.

there so many options. do you have a more specific area or cuisine you want? casellula is in the 50's on the west side. alta is a good option near washington square park.
