Positano - Great Dinner

Went to Positano on Mt Pleasant last night (Tuesday) on a whim. Happened to be walking by and it was packed.

Ordered the Calmari appetizer, calamari was grilled perfectly and served on a lovely bed of fresh raddichio and romaine with a very good balsamic dressing (not overly dressed). I appreciated the fact that when we asked if the dish was enough to share or did we also need a salad the waiter said it should be fine but if not he would bring out a salad afterwards. He remembered to check back with us on this and it was plenty, just as he said it would be.

SO ordered the Gnocchi which was served with baby spinach, fresh mozzarella, and a very nicely balanced tomato sauce. Gnocchi was very good, not too heavy.

I ordered the pansotti filled with cheese in a walnut cream sauce. It was delicious. Very fresh, with a the nuts ground to the perfect texture to still have some bite without being too large and overpowering.

Service was prompt. We never had to ask for water to be refilled. Our bread basket was refilled when it got low without our asking and the tomato dipping sauce they served alongside the bread was a lovely surpise.

With one glass of wine, just under $50 before tip. Excellent value. Will definitely be back.

The pansotti there has been a personal favorite of mine for years. The veal chop is also fabulous.
