Lunch in Paris on New Year's Day

Looking for a bistrot in Paris for a long, leisurely recovery lunch on New Year's Day. Of the restaurants that appear to be open, I was thinking of La Régalade, Les Bouquinistes, AOC or La Rotonde de la Muette (16th). Had an enjoyable lunch at La Rotonde a few months ago.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks!

For the record I've just put up a summary of places open 7/7, not all of which are open NYD, but are worth a call.

    They're at: http://johntalbottsparis.typepad.com/...

Here's the web page of Chez Les Anges (didn't find an English version though).

I suppose they will post their end of year menus (incl. prices) later this year as well as the days they're open resp. closed:

I'd be very surprised if La Régalade was open on NYD. And surprised if l'AOC was. La Rotonde has been less good and the service obnoxious lately, I'm on hold on recommending what used to be the best brasseries in town hands down. La Rotonde de la Muette is a pleasant bourgeois location with decent food but it really is a (rich) neighbourhood place, not worth travelling through town.

Christophe is an excellent bistronomique; that will be open on NYD, but I'm not sure how leisurely it is -- not necessarily the kind of place where you want to hang out.

L'Ami Louis will be open, but as discussed on this board, it is not for everyone and every budget.

Fish is open. Great wines and very good food and nice value and English spoken.

Soup: are you certain Fish is open? They always used to shut up shop a few days before Christmas and open a few days after New Year.

Now they close one day a year, and it is Christmas day.

chez le Agnes? Is this the same as Chez Agnes 1 Rue Augereau? Rick Steve's guide book describes it as Agne's house and I didn't get the feeling it was a true restaurant.

Nope. Chez les Anges, (at the Angels), bd Tour Maubourg, in the 7th.

Souphie, you are of course correct. I misread LaFourchette.com when looking at available restaurants and both La Régalade and AOC are closed on NYD. Other suggestions have been Chez les Anges, Au Bon Accueil and Dominique Bouchet. but I suspect none of those are open on NYD ether (I'm checking. . . ).

              I'd be surprised.

As it turns out, Chez les Anges is open on NYD. Other options that I have confirmed are open are Les Bouquinistes (where we have eaten before) and L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (where we have not dined, but others in our group have). We are in fact a party of seven, so that may affect recommendations and our ability to secure a reservation.

Thoughts, particularly about Chez les Anges?

Chez les Anges has very serious food, like Au Bon Accueil (same owner), and is a lovely place. It's big enough that your table of 7 won't feel like you're taking over the place. An excellent choice.

L'Atelier makes no sense for 7 as you'd be seating at the bar. La Table a bit more but I don't know if they'll have their great value lunch deal available. If they don't, you're better off at Le Cinq or La Grande Cascade.

How soon would you suggest making reservations?

Thanks, souphie! I love positive reinforcement for a decision I was leaning towards anyway. Chez les Anges it is!
