Non child-friendly restaurant for lunch (NoVA)

My wife and I are free from our daughter's tyranny for the first time in 9 months tomorrow, but only during the day. I'm looking for a decidedly non child-friendly place for a nice adult lunch, and location is flexible in NoVA.

Thanks!

Inox does 3 courses for $28, 2941 is another option, and then there's always Rest. Eve. Fish - Monterey Bay, PassionFish.

I would go to Restaurant Eve in Old Town Alexandria.

The Tasting Room at Restaurant Eve is only open for dinner. The OP is specifically looking for a lunch experience. I don't agree that the Bistro @ Retaurant Eve is quite as special as other NVA places like 2941or Inox.

The tasting room at Eve isn't open for lunch but the rest of Eve is. Their Lickety Split menu is probably the best deal in town.

I agree on the best deal in town, but I don't think it's what the OP is looking for. We're talking a relaxed, romantic, pampered date atmosphere that's being sought.

I'm not sure what point you're making in your reply. Since I wrote that the Bistro at Eve is open for lunch, why did you feel the need to clarify/correct me by saying that the rest of the restaurant is open?

While some readers surely will appreciate your pointing them in the direction of a lunch that's the best deal in town, I was specifically focusing on the OP's needs: "Nice, adult lunch." No mention of cost-effective. And, more significantly, no mention -- or expectation -- of speed! After all, couple will be celebrating their first break from child care in nine months.

Perhaps you don't share my opinion that 2941, in particular, is a more adult, civilized atmosphere with its surrounding landscaping, the artsy chandeliers, and the world-class art. Okay. We'll agree to disagree. I was simply trying my best to respond to the OP's stated needs.

And, for what it's worth, 2941 offers an appealing three-course meal for $23.95.

"I'm looking for a decidedly non child-friendly place for a nice adult lunch, and location is flexible in NoVA."

And I'm trying to respond the the OP's needs as well. All I'm saying is that Eve meets those prerequisites. Did I mention anything about speed? Lickety Split is just the name of the menu. If you don't care for Eve's atmosphere, that's fine as well. There are other options, as you point out.

The Lickety Split menu is at the bar and is really tasty, it is an experience, you can take your time and order more things too. However, eating in the bistro with how warm and romantic it is would also be really nice. Especially on a sunny day I love eating in there it is really inviting and relaxing.

I have really enjoyed Passionfish on a number of occasions and they make some wonderful soups that would be good for this weather.
