Miami Visitors Need Dinner Rec Near Murray Hill

I'm visiting from Miami this weekend and would love recommendations for dinner on Saturday. Preferably a place with great/fun atmosphere and with entrees in the $15-$25 range. We're staying in Murray Hill and don't know the area too well but from what I've read the restaurants are average around us so we're willing to take a cab somewhere nearby. The people I'm with aren't really into Asian food so anything else is fair game. All recommendations are appreciated!

  1. How many people? What's the intersection closest to where you're staying? Any other critieria than not Asian? Any cuisines you are looking for? Non-Latin I would assume, since you're from Miami...

I should have mentioned that we'd like to stay away from Latin too since we get it so often here. There are three of us and we're totally open to any suggestions. We're staying at the corner of 37th and Lex.

      1. How about Afghan food? Bamiyan restaurant is right next to you and has interesting food (closer to Middle Eastern than Asian). Don't know if the atmosphere is "fun" but the place is super cute, especially the cozy take-off-your-shoes-and-curl-up tables by the window.

        1. Indian? Nirvana 39 & Lex- awesome food, great atmosphere.

          1. There are actually various good options in Murray Hill, though I tend to frequent Indian restaurants most in that neighborhood (does that count for "Asian" to you?). But keep in mind that you can easily get to the East Village by subway (get on at 33rd St. and Park Av. South and get off at Astor Place), bus (just take the bus down Lexington), or cab.
